Despite the current boom in online poker there aren’t many opportunities to play Poker in the real world. The 1968 Gambling Act limits players to either a licenced Casino or a private members club. Such a private club cannot be set up for the purpose of gambling nor can they charge more than £2 per player per day for the use of their facilities.
As you probably know the big London Casinos don’t have much interest in operating poker games and not surprisingly those private clubs that do operate poker tournaments either break the law or aren’t incentivised to put on a game very often.
As a group of enthusiasts that happen to have a track record in the gaming industry we wanted to open a club dedicated to poker that was legally allowed to offer the full range of Poker properly regulated and secure environment. So in July this year, The Fox Poker Club applied to the Gaming Board for a Casino Licence and we are also working with Westminster Council to secure the planning. We hope to have completed our licensing, planning and fit out of our beautiful building by January 2006 ready for the opening party!
Our plans include 200 seats which will only be used for Poker which all offer absolute comfort and the space to think about your game, a dedicated "Platinum Room" with full TV studio facilities which will be available to Platinum Members and their guests, no limit cash games and the final table of all our Tournaments. We expect members to be able watch these games live from the comfort of the bar and lounge area on state of the art flat-screen TV’s.
If you would like to be kept informed of the latest information about the club and offered the chance to become a member, please
leave your details here.
We will publish updates and press releases via a number of friendly poker blogs which have agreed to follow our progress along with the other Poker stories they cover and we are
reproducing them here
for your convenience.
